This morning, at 06:27 a.m., the Kaunas District Chief Police Commissariat informed the shift lead of Operations Department of Kaunas Airport about a received report on a mined aircraft, which was to land at the airport at about 7 a.m. There was not a single plane scheduled to land at that time at the airport.
At that time there were solely passengers waiting for the 7.30 a.m. Ryanair flight going to London at the airport’s terminal.
Having assessed the situation, police officers arrived to the airport to check the aircraft. The Operational Police Group checked the aircraft waiting for the flight together with airport’s employees and Ryanair crew.
Since there were no suspicious items found neither at the terminal nor on the aircraft, a decision was made to allow the plane to operate the flight from Kaunas to London Luton airport. The aircraft safely took off at 08:06 a.m.
