Presently, Kaunas International Airport (KUN) is the second largest passenger airport in Lithuania with 18 percent market share increase in 3 years time, accounting for 391 thousand passengers in 2007, starting with 27 thousand in 2004.

Besides, as a result of successful operations of the cargo operator, Kaunas Airport remains the leader in the country according to the volume of handed cargo, taking 58 percent of Lithuania’s air cargo market with annual turnaround of nearly 7 thousand tonnes.

To facilitate the growth of passenger and cargo volumes, we are working on our infrastructure development.

The signal lights system was modernized in 2007, as well as the improved aviation safety and security measures (perimeter fencing with video surveillance and alarm system), extended noise control and monitoring system.

Presently the new modern passenger terminal (7378 sq. m.) is under construction and should be ready to welcome the non-Schengen area flights from April this year.

General Director of the Airport Mr. Arijandas Sliupas believes that the airport has great potential and will work to strengthen the positions in Lithuania and Eastern Europe and to be a serious competitor handling passenger and cargo traffic.
