A new hotel to open near Kaunas Airport next spring
The construction of a modern two-storey hotel, Airhotel, near Kaunas Airport, in front of the arrivals terminal, is about to begin. The hotel will accommodate 106 guests at a time. The projected investments for construction total EUR 1.5m and the opening of the hotel is expected in spring 2017.
The hotel is planned to have 53 rooms - half of them will be furnished with small kitchens equipped with all the necessary appliances, making the guests who stay for a longer period of time feel like at home. The spacious lobby will feature a free-time zone and a bar. For safe car parking, guests will have a chance to use the nearby protected parking lot.
"The planning process took longer than expected but we are happy that the construction will finally begin. We hope that this project will attract more flights, making Kaunas Airport even more attractive," said Antanas Etneris, Director of Airhotel UAB.
"We have long had a need for a hotel in the vicinity of the airport. As the flights in Kaunas are on the increase, the hotel should be popular among those travellers whose planes take off early in the morning and land late in the evening. New accommodation facilities will be especially important during the upcoming summer when Vilnius Airport will be closed for its runway reconstruction, and the majority of airlines will move their flights to Kaunas Airport", explained Jūratė Baltrušaitytė, Commercial Director at Lithuanian Airports.
The area of Airhotel will be 1,314 square metres. The hotel was designed by Rimantas Giedraitis' company of architects Giedraitis & Architektai. A two-storey building façade is created from metal composite panels; guests will rise to the first floor by a spacious glass panoramic elevator.
For customer convenience, all Airhotel rooms are planned to have private bathrooms, air conditioners, flat-screen TVs, hair dryers and other necessary appliances; the rooms will have a wireless Internet connection.
The booking of Airhotel rooms will be available at the hotel reception and through the most popular global hotel booking systems.
