Exhibition of Žalgiris trophies arrives at Kaunas Airport

Renewed cooperation between Kaunas Airport and Kaunas basketball club Žalgiris resulted in the opening of club’s trophy exhibition “70 Great Seasons”. The exhibition where travellers can take a look at the cups won by the Žalgiris team throughout the history of 70 years and learn about the most significant winning moments will run until the end of September.

Previously the exhibition was on view in Žalgiris arena; now being held in Kaunas Airport it will be visited not only by basketball fans but also foreigners coming to the city and Lithuanian travellers.

“Kaunas Airport is the first place to see by foreigners who come to the Temporary Capital of Lithuania, and thus we want to show them what is Kaunas most known for, that is basketball and Žalgiris. As basketball fans we believe that both foreign and Lithuanian travellers will experience particular emotions after this exhibition: some might remember watching one of the winning matches, others might feel inspired to seek their goals in sports”, says Director of the Kaunas Airport Mr. Bruno Kaspar.

“When team trophies were exhibited in Žalgiris arena we noticed that fans often took pictures and gladly commented on the victories of Žalgiris team. We aim to spread the information about achievements of Žalgiris in the whole world, and thus we gladly agreed to share the exhibition with passengers coming to Kaunas Airport. We hope that having seen the trophies they would find the way to Žalgiris arena too”, says Director of Kaunas Žalgiris, Mr. Paulius Motiejūnas.

Exhibition in Kaunas Airport presents six cups won by Žalgiris team and photographs capturing the winning moments of seasons in 1998-2014. Exhibition can be attended in the departure hall for non-Schengen passengers until the end of September.

Up to now the passengers were welcomed by the stand showing Žalgiris basketball players which is to be renewed in the nearest future. Meanwhile, Žalgiris souvenir shop will be opened in Kaunas Airport before the new basketball season starts.
