New investment at Kaunas Airport
Kaunas Airport has signed a contract with the land lease auction winner, Global Travel Supply, intending to invest about 1 million litas in these activities.
Kaunas Airport signed a land lease agreement for 40 years with the auction winner. The company undertook to erect and operate a building of at least 350 square meters in the leased land parcel of 1.6 thousand square metres for the production and storage of food and other products to be delivered to aircrafts.
‘The detailed plan of Kaunas Airport approved at the end of the last year has unlocked new opportunities to attract both Lithuanian and foreign investors. This is the seventh contract of the land lease for aviation activities, and we are confident that it will be successful also,” said acting General Manager of Kaunas Airport Jonas Gurskas.
Currently, Aviabaltika, Ryanair, FL Technics and Dot LT companies operate at Kaunas Airport. In total, more than 65 million litas of private investment were attracted and 330 new jobs were created over the last two years. It is also expected that the air park project being implemented along with Kaunas free economic zone (LEZ) will attract new investors. In the future they will merge the territories of LEZ and Kaunas Airport.
