Kaunas Airport: summer season was successful
Summer season at Kaunas airport was as much successful as it was last year – over the last 7 months more than 544 thousands passengers were serviced. From April to October the most popular destinations were summer destinations to Spain, Italy, Cyprus, Malta and Greece resorts.
The highest number of passengers was reached in July. During the hottest month the passenger number reached almost 90 thousands, i.e. Kaunas Airport serviced 1,4% more passengers than last year at the same time.
Kaunas Airport General Manager at interim says: “We noticed that average holiday period increased from 8 days to two weeks during this year. It was impacted by much more convenient flight schedules offered by airlines.”
Besides the most favourite passengers` summer destinations Kaunas Airport offered two brand new destinations to resorts of the Italy – Trapani Sicily and Cagliari Sardinia. The two new destinations were as much popular as the most favourite ones to Spanish resorts (Alicante and Palma de Mallorca).
According to General Manager at interim J. Gurskas passenger traffic from neighbouring countries increases noticeably every year – almost the quarter of the travelling passengers were tourists from Latvia, Byelorussia and Poland.
During the 2013/2014 winter season the flights to 9 destinations to Bristol (United Kingdom), Cagliari (Italy), Dublin (Ireland), Frankfurt Hahn (Germany), London Luton and London Stansted (United Kingdom), Oslo Ryge (Norway), Paphos (Cyprus) and Riga (Latvia) will be operated from Kaunas Airport. The summer destination flights to Sardinia and Cyprus will continue operating as well.
